Hogwarts, A History

While Hermione may have the book, Hogwarts: A History, memorized cover to cover, the sole member of the band of the same name, Danny, judging by his music, will never be so predictable. After listening to PotterCast’s coverage of the New York Yule Ball in 2006, the Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff decided to write, record and post his own wizard rock song, “Hey Ginny.”

Inspired by both Harry Potter podcasts and his broad range of musical interests, Danny tries to stray away from the “First name and last name” formula of many wizard rock bands, and is willing to try anything musically. As he explains, “If I think a song needs to be incredibly heavy and dark with harsh vocals, that’s exactly what it will be. If the music speaks for itself well enough, I won’t add vocals. I think that’s what makes me different: my willingness to experiment.” Hogwarts, A History is currently writing an EP titled “The Four Spells,” featuring music inspired by four spells in the Harry Potter cannon.
