Draco and the Malfoys
Draco and the Malfoys, the original evil wizard rock band, grew from under the wings of Harry and the Potters, when in 2005, after Harry and the Potters could not make a show, Brian Ross and Bradley Mehlenbacher decided to parody the idea created by the original duo, and write similar songs with an evil perspective.
After informing their counterparts of the idea, Draco and the Malfoys were suddenly booked at the Norwood Theatre in Massachusetts alongside Harry and the Potters, and the public reaction of over 200 people was stupendous. As Brian explains:
After we were done, we put our stuff away, hung out with Paul and Joe backstage until they were ready to go on, and then went out front to find some seats. Well, when we went out to sit down, the place just burst into this crazy cheering, so much so that I thought Harry and the Potters just came out on stage. But they were showing us their appreciation, which was basically the moment we both knew this could work, if Paul and Joe were okay with us riding their wave.
With their band’s name and reputation out in the world, The duo- Bradley as Draco year 15 and Brian as Draco year 17-put out a CD in time for their next gig at the Yule Ball where wizard rock made its name known to the people of the world who had not heard of it.
The duo also performs with Matt Maggiacomo of the one-man band The Whomping Willows.
Draco and the Malfoys have one album-their self-titled debut. They were also featured on Harry and the Potters’ Christmas album, A Magical Christmas of Magic.
