Hermione and the Grangers

Studying can lead to so much— just look at Hermione and the Grangers for instance. In 2004, after a teacher played a Harry and the Potters CD during study hall, Aparna got together with her friend, Vijay, and their new singer, Madison Mott, and started the band. Inspired by a cornucopia of music ranging from wizard rock bands such as The Remus Lupins and their East Coast Hermione and the Grangers counterparts, to such muggle artists as Panic! At the Disco and Kelly Clarkson, their mixture of genres allows them to create songs like “Set Buckbeak Free!” and “Who Are We?”

With their first performance in June 2007, Hermione and the Grangers also help earn money for “Caring Around the World”—a charity Aparna started in 2002, providing money to areas hit by poverty or natural disasters.
