Lord of the Strings

When it comes to Wizard Rock, the music of the band Lord of the Strings reminds us that not all great wizards attended Hogwarts. The band, made up of Gryffindor Brent, Ravenclaw Ben, and Hufflepuff Mark, Lord of the Strings plays songs relating not only the Rowling’s wizarding world but also that of Middle Earth and other such familiar lands of magic and wizardry.

Originating from a random decision to write songs about Harry Potter, the band arose with their songs “Harry Stay in School,” “Ode to Hermione,” and “You Shall Not Pass” (an ode to legendary Gandalf the Grey). Most of their songs happen within the course of fifteen minutes, which shows how random and yet creative the band’s music is. Not matter what kind or how much music they write and record however, the band has learned one important lesson. As Brent admits, “If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that you can’t take yourselves too seriously when it comes to being in a Wizard Rock band.”
