Before one can become a wizard, they are seen as a muggle. Similarly, before wizard rock band Harry and the Potters hit the scene, the concept for Mostly Muggles was thought up by it’s soon to be members Sam and Andrew. The duo would learn of Harry and the Potters two years later, finally deciding to go through with their original idea of writing music that involved Harry Potter that was original and interesting. While it is still unknown however, whether forming the band was inspired by the Potters or through frustration that Mostly Muggles could have been dubbed the first wizard rock band if they had chosen to form during their initial decision for the concept, they hold no grudges toward the Potters and continue to enjoy their music.

Mostly Muggles tries to create music with a professional sound to it, recruiting many different sounds, as well as having several side groups. As band member Sam explains, it’s “music that sounds like it could be on the radio, other than the fact it’s about Harry Potter.” Overall, the
goal of Mostly Muggles, despite being as their name points out, is to create music that speaks for the book in a way that can’t be written on paper or portrayed in the films. “We want the very core of Harry Potter to be in our music. The imagination, the curiosity, the adventure, all of this is combined in our music to create something just as good as what inspired it.”
