ALL-MEDIUM Wizard Rock Contest REMINDER!

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

   Hello, WizardRock.Org readers!
I’m just here to remind everyone of WizardRock.Org’s first ever ALL-MEDIUM wizard rock contest!
As Spring is the season of all things new and fresh, such as April Fool’s Day (and the birthday of mischeif connoisseurs, Fred and George Weasley), those of us at WizardRock.Org have become inspired to do something fun, twisted, and totally off-the wall, and are celebrating mischeif and meyhem ALL SEASON LONG. And what better way to include our visitors in this season-long tribute to madness, than to hold an ALL-MEDIUM contest and let imaginations run wild?
We want to see your twisted take on the following scenario:

What would happen if your favorite wizard rock band met their namesake?

Tell us (or show us!) what you think would happen! Contest submissions may be submitted in any creative medium of your choice, including (but not limited to): artwork, comic strips, fan fictions, essays, podcasts or spoken skits, songs, or videos.

The Rules :

  1. First and foremost: size doesn’t matter (that much). Yes. I’m going to be extremely liberal here and accept submissions of all sorts: great and small, because tight time and size limitations really cramp up creativity.
Of course…if your submission is SO freakin’ ridiculously honkin’ ginormous that it breaks my computer, I’ll disqualify it. But that will be really hard to do since my computer is totally magical. So…er…yeah. Just have some common sense and decency when it comes to the size of your entry… Have fun, get as carried away as you wish, and be creative!

  2. Keep the subject material of all submissions PG-15 or under, so that we don’t have to bother with those obnoxious “18+” warnings for legal purposes.
  3. Contest entries may feature any wizard rock band of your choice.
  4. Contest entries of any creative medium will be accepted.
  5. All questions in regards to this contest or your particular entry should be sent to me, either via MySpace message or e-mail.
  6. Submit all entries to: wizardrocking@yahoo.com .
  7. The contest deadline is Saturday, the 12th of May 2007, at 11:59 PST (Los Angeles Time).

So… on that note, I’d like to remind you to: have fun, be inventive, manage mischeif, and rock and ROAR!

WizardRock.Org Invites You To RSVP Via Facebook!

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

In hope of providing a unique way for visitors to share creative inspiration, connect with other wizard rock fans, and spread the word for our upcoming contest, we decided to get a bit abstract with Facebook’s event feature. Since polls (such as the one on the side of the page) are a bit vague and impersonal, we have designated a Facebook event page specially for this season’s all-medium “If They Met” contest.
Through our Facebook event page, visitors will be provided with a convenient, interactive spot to discuss the contest (including ideas for bands to choose and methods of presentation), team up with others (for those of you who prefer to create things as part of a team effort), and invite your friends to join!

Everyone is invited to participate! That’s right — you do not need an invitation in order to RSVP (you do, however, need a Facebook account).

   To “RSVP” to our contest:
Visit our event page here. On the right-hand side of the page, click the link that says “Add To My Events”. Voila! After you add yourself to this event, there are three options to choose from:

  • Attending, if you plan on actually participating in this contest (OR even if you can’t participate, but plan on supporting someone else who does plan to participate…or even just plan to swing by the site and root random people on!)
  • Maybe Attending, if you’re not quite sure this is your thing, but want to keep an open mind about it.
  • Not Attending, if you plan to pass on this contest altogether. We’ll miss you!

Regardless of whether or not you personally have any interest in this contest, if you know anybody who you think might get a kick out of it, please help us spread the word, by clicking “Invite People To Come” on the right-hand side of the page.

REMEMBER! — this contest is an all-medium contest, so whether your skills involve art, music, film, writing, paper maché, or divinely-inspired pictures on burnt toast, chances are, you’ll find some means of expression that suits your personal style.

   Hope to hear from you!

NOTE: Please IGNORE “Los Angeles” as the designated city of this contest. WizardRock.Org’s contests are INTERNET-BASED ONLY (meaning, everybody can “attend”).
For technical reasons, Facebook requires a “city” in order to create an event page, so I chose to enter my hometown, as our contest’s deadline (11:59 PM PST, on May 12th) ends within the same time zone.
