An Active (Late)Night in Wrock

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Hot off the presses, Ministry of Magic just revealed their latest intern and released a new song titled “Hogwarts Express.” Check it out!

A band with an astonishing amount of fans has just popped up on myspace claiming to be the Original Harry and the Potters. I advise everyone to check out this band for yourself, because personally I find them quite convincing.

What else could possibly be going on that has me all excited and extra Wizard Rocky tonight? Well, the latest gossip the rumor mill is that the next episode of the Podcast of Awesome is in the works. With an awesome, special guest host and some groovy tunes keep an extendible ear out for more.

And last but not least, Happy Birthday Fred and George! Or, Gred and Forge… Everyone enjoy this April fools day Weasley Twin style! (This is also a good chance for you to annoy all your non HP friends with HP related pranks.) So get out your dung bombs and party like you’re a Weasley!

Wizard Rock in the News

Friday, March 14th, 2008

On March 10, an article appeared in a local newspaper, The Canton Repository letting readers know about The Remus Lupins concert that was to take place on the next day. The article is quite amusing, as it gets most of its facts wrong. Did you know that, not only does “J.K. Rowling endorse The Remus Lupins and flies the band to concerts throughout the country.” For more hilarity the article can be found by clicking here.

The Remus Lupins (Alex Carpenter) performed for a small crowd of 25-30 people at the Jackson Township branch of the Stark County Library on March 11. Then we returned to a friend’s house to crash (after staying up past 3 in the morning of course). On the morning of March 12 as Alex and I checked the website to reread the above article, we discovered a new one. A picture of yours truly and a video of Alex’s performance accompany the article. Let me just point out that we were a little annoyed that the reporter left right before the last song, and didn’t interview either Alex, or the woman responsible for booking the show. You can check out this article by clicking here.

If you have a Wizard Rock band and are interested in booking a show in Ohio, check out Ohio Wizard Rock Promotions on myspace.

July, I dub thee “Wizard Rocker Appreciation Month”!

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Hello, wizard rock scene, and happy 7/7/’07–the most magical day of the year!
If you haven’t realized it yet, as of today, only two weeks remain before the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final installment of the epic adventure that has touched our lives, inspired us to create, and engrained itself into our hearts.
While many people are looking at this event as the end of an era, I prefer to look at it, also, as the beginning of a brand new chapter for all of us involved in the wizard rock movement. July 21st will pave the way for an era of music with a source of inspiration that is complete and focused, rather than one that leaves everybody hanging.
That being said, I’d like to embrace the closure of our fan base’s current chapter of existence and celebrate our future by taking a moment to reflect on the wizard rock scene thus far and show appreciation for the brilliant creative minds who have rocked their way into our hearts.
To kick things off, I’d like to invite each and every one of you to show your love for your favorite wizard rockers, via a Facebook questionairre. I’m asking YOU who your favorite wizard rocker is, and why. Head on over to my Facebook account (you will have to register an account and add me) and MAKE YOUR OPINION HEARD! I will be compiling all the answers I receive into a virtual tribute to all the wizard rockers who have brought smiles to our faces and filled up at least a quarter of the space on our iPods.
