Hello, WizardRock.Org visitors!
As you may have heard recently, there have been plans at WizardRock.Org to start our very own podcast. We have a lot of ideas in store for this podcast–including commentary (and other goodies) from our very own mascot! Anyway…back to the real point of this news announcement:
We are searching for a voice actor to portray our mascot, Rocky the Wizard Rock Ridgebackâ„¢! And because we like to keep it real, we’re looking for wizard rock fans before scouting out professionals: someone who would be willing to have some fun and lend their voice for a couple brief recordings here or there!
Interested? Great! Here is what I’m looking for, in particular:
- A male voice (however, females who can provide a passable male-sounding voice are welcome to audition as well!).
- A Scottish accent is preferred for this character. However, I will also accept: British, Irish, Norwegian, and Standard American accents.
- Here is a character description to work with: “Rocky is a sarcastic talking dragon who loves music of all sorts, but sticks to blogging about wizard rock, since he’s too big and clumsy to really play an instrument himself. Although he was never sorted, he’s got the heart of a Gryffindor, the pride of a Slytherin, the curiosity of a Ravenclaw, and the arm of a Hufflepuff (in his tummy. Left over from breakfast)… He’s street-smart…but shouldn’t come across too brainy. He’s a friendly, sassy, fun-loving party animal whose purpose in life is to rock!“
HOW TO AUDITION:
I will be in charge of the audition process, and personally selecting a voice actor to portray the character. Here’s how to submit an audition:
What To Say: You can either send me a sample of in-character dialogue directly from Rocky’s
MySpace or
LiveJournal (e.g. an excerpt of a blog entry, etc.) -OR- you may ad-lib. I do
not prefer one type of audition over the other; I’m just looking for vocal quality and acting skills.
Format: MP3 files, WAV files, and voicemails are
all acceptable.
Length: At
least 20 seconds of dialogue; you may go on for as long as you want, after that.
How To Contact: Either e-mail me at
ashe@sodapopink.com (for MP3 and WAV auditions), or send it to me via
voicemail message (my phone number may be found on my
Facebook profile — you’ll have to add me to see it).
Include: Your name and contact information (e-mail address); if contacting me via voicemail, please speak clearly.
Please note: All potential voice actors are expected to either own or have access to a microphone and computer, in order to particpate in WizardRock.Org’s podcast, if chosen.
Oh yeah…and just for the record: this is 100% for fun. You won’t be paid for doing it (although you will be credited for your voicework), and nobody will be making a single dime off your voice.
It’s simply in the name of fun and rock’n'roll… that’s what wizard rock is about, after all.
There is no deadline for the audition process–I will keep auditions going until I find an adequate voice actor.
