Sunday, October 7th, 2007

   Hey, wizards and witches!
As I’m sure goes for many of you as well, I’m still trying to pick out a Halloween costume! Luckily for me, the folks at WizardRock.Org have decided to help me out, by creating a poll for YOU to vote in! So head on over to the site’s sidebar, and cast your vote!

Oh! …and, yes, I will be modeling whatever costume the majority of you choose for me… so make sure your vote gets counted!!

Rock and ROAR!
Rocky the Wizard Rock Ridgeback

P.S. Somebody *cough*Nefret*cough* totally didn’t completely misspell Alex Carpenter’s name, FYI. It’s …er… completely intended to be that way… We just added the suffix “-ure” to create a new word. As in “rapture“. Or “nomenclature“. Alex Carpenture.
…Hey, if “bootylicious” can get accepted into the Oxford English Dictionary, why not?

A Rebuttal to Rocky’s Rebuttal

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

For those of you who have read Rocky’s blog will know that Rocky blames me for his infidelity.

I picked a handful of wildflowers, and went searching for Nefret, so I could surprise her with a “hey, I was just thinking of you” gift. That was when I saw Nefret kissing Fred Weasley behind the whomping willow tree.

I would like to clear a few things up. 1. I would rather eat my own foot than kiss one Mr. Fred Weasley ever since the time he decided to test out a Weasley Wizarding Wheezes product on me in the Great Hall during dinner. 2. I did kiss a Weasley, George Weasley and it wasn’t my fault. George saved me from being beaten to death from the Whomping Willow (I may have said something about him not being all that awesome) and I joking said something about paying him back for saving my life. So George did what any red blooded male would and I didn’t object because I had heard the rumors about Rocky’s infidelity.

Rebuttal…

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Alright. So here’s the real deal:
I was minding my own business, munching on some Abraxan pie, when Hagrid suddenly appears out from nowhere, with the bright idea to try mating me with a Swedish Shortsnout in an attempt to create some sort of new dragon hybrid. So, being the upstanding, gentlemanly dragon that I am, I turned to the gigantic oaf, and politely explained that I am already in a committed relationship, and although I am flattered by his interest in my far superior genetics, he would have to settle for another Ridgeback, to follow through with his breeding experiment. Besides, Sally the Swedish Shortsnout has been around the Forbidden Forest a couple times (if you catch my drift), and I’d like my breath to be the only thing that burns. (read more…)

Rocky, Off of My Site!

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Anyone who has friended either Rocky (our mascot) or myself on FaceBook knows that we are married. I have been faithful to Rocky, infact I have beating people off with a stick, turning down dates left, right, and center! Whereas Rocky, this sites mascot Rocky, my husband Rocky has not returned the favor. I SAW ROCKY KISSING SOME SWEDISH SHORTSNOUT! So Rocky we are through, over, no more and Rocky we no longer require your services for this site, good bye.

Voice Actor Wanted!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

   Hello, WizardRock.Org visitors!

As you may have heard recently, there have been plans at WizardRock.Org to start our very own podcast. We have a lot of ideas in store for this podcast–including commentary (and other goodies) from our very own mascot! Anyway…back to the real point of this news announcement:
We are searching for a voice actor to portray our mascot, Rocky the Wizard Rock Ridgebackâ„¢! And because we like to keep it real, we’re looking for wizard rock fans before scouting out professionals: someone who would be willing to have some fun and lend their voice for a couple brief recordings here or there!

Interested? Great! Here is what I’m looking for, in particular:

  1. A male voice (however, females who can provide a passable male-sounding voice are welcome to audition as well!).

  2. A Scottish accent is preferred for this character. However, I will also accept: British, Irish, Norwegian, and Standard American accents.
  3. Here is a character description to work with: “Rocky is a sarcastic talking dragon who loves music of all sorts, but sticks to blogging about wizard rock, since he’s too big and clumsy to really play an instrument himself. Although he was never sorted, he’s got the heart of a Gryffindor, the pride of a Slytherin, the curiosity of a Ravenclaw, and the arm of a Hufflepuff (in his tummy. Left over from breakfast)… He’s street-smart…but shouldn’t come across too brainy. He’s a friendly, sassy, fun-loving party animal whose purpose in life is to rock!

HOW TO AUDITION:

I will be in charge of the audition process, and personally selecting a voice actor to portray the character. Here’s how to submit an audition:
What To Say: You can either send me a sample of in-character dialogue directly from Rocky’s MySpace or LiveJournal (e.g. an excerpt of a blog entry, etc.) -OR- you may ad-lib. I do not prefer one type of audition over the other; I’m just looking for vocal quality and acting skills.
Format: MP3 files, WAV files, and voicemails are all acceptable.
Length: At least 20 seconds of dialogue; you may go on for as long as you want, after that.
How To Contact: Either e-mail me at ashe@sodapopink.com (for MP3 and WAV auditions), or send it to me via voicemail message (my phone number may be found on my Facebook profile — you’ll have to add me to see it).
Include: Your name and contact information (e-mail address); if contacting me via voicemail, please speak clearly.

Please note: All potential voice actors are expected to either own or have access to a microphone and computer, in order to particpate in WizardRock.Org’s podcast, if chosen.

Oh yeah…and just for the record: this is 100% for fun. You won’t be paid for doing it (although you will be credited for your voicework), and nobody will be making a single dime off your voice.
It’s simply in the name of fun and rock’n'roll… that’s what wizard rock is about, after all.

There is no deadline for the audition process–I will keep auditions going until I find an adequate voice actor.
