Slytherin Takeover of the Serpentine Kind!

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

We all knew this day would come for good can only outlast the evil for so long. The wizardrock band, Harry and the Potters, has been over run with pureblood evil like Spiderman was overtaken by symbiotic life forms. That’s right fellow wrockers, Draco and the Malfoys have sunk their basilisk fangs into our beloved band. We are sad to report that Harry and the Potters are no more. However, those who adore Draco and the Malfoys will be pleased to hear that there are now two of the infamous band. HatP fans are not pleased to say the least, the mix of emotions is immense. Some are confused while others are about to throw up their arms and go running in the direction of the Whomping Willow in order to knock some sense into the whole ordeal.  Fellow wrockers and fans of the band are seriously hoping that someone just switched their morning pumpkin juice with polyjuice potion, and that when the effects wear off our fantasmic band will return to us.

Name Changes - go - Round

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Matt, the heart throb with a love for all things awesome, has decided it was time to take his wrocking music in a new direction, that of toilet rock.  According to the lead singer of the new band, Harry and the Potties,

I am a huge fan of The Moaning Myrtles, and I feel that sanitary wizard rock is underrepresented in this community. Sure, J.K. Rowling doesn’t spend a whole lot of time talking about the bathroom habits of Hogwarts students– but everyone knows that people can’t avoid going to the bathroom at least once a day, and the students at Hogwarts are definitely people. So, with that in mind, my new CD is going to be called Welcome to the Outhouse of Awesome, and I’m going to perform all of my shows dressed as a toilet. It’s going to be amazing, I promise.”

Well Matt, we here at wizardrock.org agree that it is about time that those without representation finally get the recognition they deserve. No longer will Hogwarts students wish to follow in the footsteps of Fred and George Weasley, stealing toilets seats and playing Myrtle-ball with toilet paper rolls. Oh no, it is time to rock out in the name of lavatories everywhere because we all know that toilet rock is serious business.

I KEED! I KEED!

Apparently, we have recieved a single negative response in regard to our page of Alex Carpenter “facts”. Before this gets blown out of proportion (because similar incidents have happened in the world of wizard rock recently, and WizardRock.Org will not allow bad history to repeat itself, if we can help it), I’d like to explain our intentions behind this list. Sound fair? Alright, then. Let’s cut to the chase:
The “Alex Carpenter Facts” page was intended to be satrical and humourous. Kelly and I were chatting on AIM the other night, and we started exchanging Alex Carpenter “facts” (a parody of the recent Internet fad of “Chuck Norris facts”, and the sort of Chuck Norris-related humor that’s been made popular by Conan O’Brien’s recurring “Walker lever” gag). Kelly and I were getting a kick out of these “facts”, and decided not to hoard all the fun by keeping it as an inside joke. So…in an attempt to be funny, we decided to compile a list of our favorite jokes from the chat, and share them with you guys. (Plus, the added fact that April Fool’s Day is right around the corner kind of especially inspired us to post this publically.)
All in good fun I had our mascot crack a couple of jokes of his own; while Kelly “designed a t-shirt” (not with the intention of selling, mind you), as a spoof of the mass-produced line of Chuck Norris gear available on the Internet.

That being said… we were not doing this for Alex as a publicity stunt or to support him above the other wizard rockers. In fact…since when was wizard rock even about publicity? It’s not.
Yes, we think Alex Carpenter is a fine human being and musician, and support him as much as possible. However, as staff members of WizardRock.Org, we do not support him any more or less than other rockers. We were merely inspired to write jokes, poking gentle fun at his charisma and fanbase.

Wizard Rock is not, has never been, and will never be about fanbase size or petty politics. It’s about rocking, reading, and having fun.
On that note, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy April Fool’s day a few days early this year. If you’d like to have yourself a little laugh, you can read our dumb list of jokes here.

Myrtles Moan for Voicemail

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Copied directly form their MySpace bulletin:

Okay! So in an effort to get more fans to use our SayNow service to send us voice messages with cell phones, we came up with the idea to have question and answer sessions!

Here’s all you have to do. Think of questions you’d like us to answer, whether it’s about our songs, us, our plans, the Harry Potter books, or wizard rock!

Then, text moaningmyrtles to SAYNOW (729669). SayNow will then call you so you can record us a message and you will also be automatically signed up to get our broadcast messages. Also, you can save the number that shows up in your Caller ID and call it anytime to leave us more messages!

Just say who you are and ask the questions you’d like us to answer! When we get a few of them, we’ll record broadcast messages with our answers and everyone who called will get a notification on their cell phones to listen to the broadcast!

You can also click here and enter your cell phone number into the box to receive a call to record your message if you can’t send text messages.

We can’t wait to hear your questions!”
